Each person who is striving to improve his or her health through weight loss and better nutrition has many similar goals. Realizing that there has never been a center built to address these common goals for both surgical and non-surgical weight loss patients, we opened the Fast Track Metabolic Weight Loss Center in the spring of 2008. Despite the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of surgical weight loss patients in the United States, there has been no organized effort to provide a tailored fitness and nutrition program to help optimize success. We have a very unique program at our practice that offers a comprehensive plan for nutrition and exercise for both surgical and non-surgical weight loss patients! We have two facilities with a combined 8,000 square-feet, using state-of-the-art exercise equipment designed from the ground up for weight loss patients. We developed this program because we know from our experience in treating thousands of patients, that a structured program such as this will lead to phenomenal success. If you're tired of exercising with the buff guys and gals at Fitworks or Urban Active, why not come to a place where we are all patients working toward the same goal! IT'S MUCH MORE THAN A JUST A GYM At FAST TRACK our fitness specialists, exercise physiologists, and dietitians will be your weight loss life coaches. We will lead you through this sometimes daunting journey one step at a time. If you have never exercised a day in your life, we can get you started. If you are intimidated by going to a regular gym, as many of us are, this is the place for you. If you are not the most self-motivated exerciser in the world, we will track your progress and help you if you need an additional boost to stay on the plan and work towards your goal weight. If you feel like you may have trouble eating the right foods on an ongoing basis, we will monitor you and help you stay on the plan. Our job is to see you succeed! EXERCISE We have specialized ShapeMaster(TM) toning equipment. These European machines allow patients who may have a lot of knee and hip pain from excess weight to achieve meaningful exercise. In addition we have standard cardio equipment for lower BMI, younger patients who don't have any joint pain. The toning equipment is great for all patients, regardless of age, to help reduce problems with excess skin and sculpt the body as weight loss continues. If you're a social creature we also offer fun, yet effective group exercise and nutrition classes that are extremely popular with our patients. NUTRITION Through Fast Track you will have access to an expert registered dietitian who specializes in both surgical and medical weight loss, some of the most experienced in the region. If you are eating the right foods and putting in proper exercise, the weight will come off much faster, you will lose much MORE weight, and most importantly your weight loss will be PERMANENT if you follow our plan! We know from our experience that, the more nutritional counseling a patient receives, the better their long-term outcome. Don't fall for some fad diet, you've tried them all before and they don't work. Let our dietitians recommend a custom plan for you that is based on sound nutritional guidelines. SCIENCE Have you ever wondered if you have a slow metabolism? Want to know how many calories your body burns in a day? At Fast Track, we have a BodyGem indirect calorimeter so that we can take a scientific measurement of your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). After this test you will know exactly what your metabolic rate is. With this number we can better advise you on your diet and exercise needs before and after surgery. Whether you are just looking to improve your health through weight loss and better nutrition, or if you had your surgical weight loss procedure years ago and feel like you've fallen off the wagon, we can help you get on the "fast track" to success - this is what we do and we do it well! BOOT CAMP 2009!! Do you feel like you have been burning daylight, just not making the progress in your fitness that you know deep down you could achieve? Then start the year off with a bang in our new Boot Camp 2009 program! Weekdays 6:30am - 7:15am and Tuesday/Thursday evenings 5:00pm - 5:45pm Flex & Tone: Feeling old and flabby? Our Flex & Tone class will help, incorporating light-weight medicine balls and dumbbells, and resistance bands to improve your flexibility and firm you up. And, believe it or not, you can do all of this while sitting down as a majority of this 30-minute class is done in a chair, with only a small portion of the class done while standing. Each muscle group is targeted, and each class participant may work at his/her own pace. Be flab-u-less with Flex & Tone! On the Ball with Donna Michelle: Donna Michelle will get you “on the ball!” This 30-minute class uses stability balls to concentrate on strengthening the core muscles and increasing balance. Other equipment, like dumbbells and medicine balls, may be incorporated to work on strengthening the major muscle groups of the body. Get off your butt and on the ball!! Cardio Mix: Are you "hard-to-please?" This one has a little of everything for you! This 45-minute class incorporates 30-minutes of low intensity cardio activities using resistance bands and walking stations, and 15-minutes of toning exercises for upper and lower body muscle groups. Mix it up a little with Megan and Elaine!
