I had a gastric bypass in Feb 2001. I had lost 190 pounds but now have gained back 80 pounds. I recently sent an email request to Dr. Curry with hopes that he can do a revision or band to get me back to not gaining. I have only gotten back a computer generated response so far. I guess my questions are: Is there others out there who have started gaining back the lost weight? Do you feel like a failure? That is what I am feeling! Not good!! I originally had my surgery done in Oregon and the doctor there has suggested a lap band now. But I want to have it done here now that I live here. I think part of my problem was not enough close follow up after the surgery. How is the support system here for post-op? Has anyone had luck with Humana covering a lap band after a bypass? Any feedback will be appreciated as i wait for Dr. Curry's office to call me or email me to schedule a visit if he is willing to see me.

We have done a lot of band-over-bypass procedures with good success. It's a complicated surgery, and every patient is not a candidate. We have to do some preop testing to see what the anatomy of your pouch looks like before we can say yay or nay.
